With 1200+ lawyers, 300+ partners, 28 offices and 17 jurisdictions we are looking to expand our Finance  team, with the addition of a Resource Allocation Manager.

 

Meet the team

 

This additional role within Finance reports directly to our Head of Financial Planning & Analysis and will build out our resource allocation offering to the fee earning teams. Day-to-day, you'll be embedded with our Technology, IP & Information (TIPI) teams. TIPI is composed of a number of sub-teams that you will work closely alongside, including;

 

  • The Technology team, who provide cutting-edge legal support to clients navigating complex tech landscapes.
  • Our Data & Cyber specialists offer robust solutions to safeguard against cyber threats and manage data effectively.
  • The Content & Advertising team advises on media law, advertising regulations, and creative content rights.
  • Our Brands team champions brand protection and strategy, helping businesses maintain their market presence.

 

The opportunity for you

 

We are seeking an experienced Resource Allocation Manager who can build on a work allocation structure recently established in two of our groups and be a driver of resource management implementation and adoption our Technology, IP & Information (TIPI) teams.

 

This new role is an exciting opportunity to support the firm's ambitious growth agenda.  We want our clients to receive the best possible service, and our people to have access to great work that provides stretch and challenge.  An efficient and effective work allocation process will ensure that workloads are balanced and further strengthen the strong sense of team within our business.

Ideally, you will have previous experience of setting up a resource allocation structure within a department, putting in place systems and building effective relationships with partners and fee earners within the department.

 

Key responsibilities

 

The successful individual will be the main contact for resourcing and subsequent management requests; being a trusted advisor to our partners, and building effective relationships with lawyers with the department and the various business services teams - Business Development, Finance and Talent (HR).

  • Understand work pipeline with partners and BD team, identifying individuals for BD initiatives.
  • Create efficiencies in work allocation, utilising appropriate tools, highlighting trends and providing reporting analysis.
  • Adapt processes to different working styles and client needs.
  • Pragmatic resolution of competing priorities.
  • Distribute data reports to partners and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Talent team to support onboarding/offboarding/ performance/promotion processes.
  • Advise on recruitment/headcount planning based on analysis of chargeable hours; highlight shortfalls/over-utilisation.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

 

  • Prior experience in work allocation or resource management, ideally within the legal industry.
  • Strong commercial and business awareness.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Strong client focus.
  • Proactive and adaptable, able to work on own initiative.
  • Experience working with resource management software.
  • Ability to implement pragmatic work allocation solutions.
  • Coaching and mentoring skills.
