The opportunity for you

 

The QHSE Assistant is responsible for supporting the QHSE team in implementing and maintaining effective quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems. The role involves providing admin support to and assisting the QHSE Manager in ensuring the delivery of health and safety systems and processes in line with statutory responsibilities and maintaining effective health and safety programs to ensure a safe and secure work environment for all employees, clients, and visitors. Maintaining information in a confidential manner, adhering to GDPR. Role can be based in either London or Liverpool and supporting Cambridge, Liverpool, Oxford and Dublin offices, and where necessary to attend alternative sites.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Maintain and update QHSE documentation, policies, procedures, and records across all designated offices.
  • Support compliance through regular site inspections, audits, risk assessments, and corrective actions; assist in achieving and maintaining ISO 45001 accreditation.
  • Coordinate the provision of safety equipment and support emergency preparedness activities.
  • Assist in developing, delivering, and tracking QHSE training programmes; maintain the training matrix and certification records.
  • Participate in incident investigations, producing reports and recommending preventive measures.
  • Act as first point of contact for QHSE queries; manage internal communications including the QHSE inbox, intranet updates, health & safety notices, and induction materials.
  • Liaise with first aiders, fire wardens, new starters (including contractors), ensuring effective onboarding procedures are in place for all sites.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by supporting campaigns, monitoring feedback/action items, and participating in reviews of management systems.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

 

  • Previous experience in a similar role will be an advantage.
  • Have IOSH Managing Safely Certificate or NEBOSH General Certificate or be willing to work towards this. Required to maintain your continuing professional development to keep your skills, knowledge and experience up to dates.
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish constructive relationships and communication with colleagues and other professionals/ agencies.
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving abilities. Proven experience of taking initiative and working under pressure and ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.
  • Optional requirement. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Quality Management).
  • Knowledge of relevant QHSE regulations, standards, and best practices preferred
  • To carry out other duties, commensurate with the post, which from time to time may be necessary for the good of Taylor Wessing.
