With 1000+ lawyers, 300+ partners, 29 offices and 17 jurisdictions we are looking to expand our Business Development  team, with the addition of a BD Manager (US clients & markets).

The US is a significant inbound capital source for our business, offering substantial opportunities for TW to service US clients expanding into Europe and bringing both deal flow and contentious mandates.


From more than 30 years of dedication to the region, we have built an enviable roster of US headquartered clients that instruct us across multiple practice areas, and multiple offices. Buoyed by our San Francisco office and regular visits to the US from across the firm, we have built a leading reputation with corporates, in-house counsel, intermediaries and communities.


In pursuit of our growth ambition, we are introducing a new business development role to focus exclusively on capitalising on US market opportunities.


This role work closely with the Director of BD, Marketing and Communications and Head of Origination to shape and implement our US BD strategy and will work directly with partners to generate referrals, win new clients and deliver events and content to enhance our reputation in the US market.


Key responsibilities


  • Develop and foster relationships with key and growth clients and intermediaries in support of our US strategy.
  • Enhance our reputation in growth areas realising mandates and referrals from our US clients and market.
  • Support activity to strengthen connectivity with relationship firms to increase connectivity and build relationship momentum.
  • Lead on client/prospect analysis and research to engage prospects and clients in the US.
  • Support on Partner business plans and trip planning.
  • Track inbound and outbound referrals.
  • Create marketing collateral and content to support US targeting.
  • Deliver profile enhancing campaigns, marketing initiatives targeting US based clients and prospects.
  • Manage internal communication relating to the US strategy and reports required for our leadership team.


Knowledge, skills and experience


  • Strong BD & Marketing experience in a legal, professional services or financial services environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering BD, marketing and client development initiatives with clear KPIs and outputs.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading BD activities internationally, to generate referrals.
  • Experience of working with wider teams and external providers on a programme of events and aligning those activities to generating leads.
  • A strong commercial mindset.
  • The ability to take initiative, deliver results and positive outcomes.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to think around a topic (including risks, challenges, opportunities, etc) to offer solutions.
  • Confidence working in a high profile role.
  • Excellent research and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop relationships and engage with people at all levels across the business.
  • Be team oriented, flexible and enthusiastic with a can-do approach.
  • Ability to work independently, be proactive and highly organised.
