With 1200+ lawyers, 300+ partners, 28 offices and 17 jurisdictions we are looking to expand our Finance  team, with the addition of a Financial Accountant.

 

The opportunity for you

 

The Financial Accountant will perform a variety of tasks to support sound financial discipline and control. They will report directly to the Finance Manager and will work closely with other members of the Financial Reporting team. 

 

They will prepare routine management and statutory accounts for international entities as required, provide information and support to budget holders across the firm as well as analyse financial data to support operational budget control and projects led by the Finance team. They will also provide support for the UK operations, including payroll and Taylor Wessing Dubai Branch related accounting and reporting tasks.

 

This is an exciting role with a wide range of current responsibilities, scope for new opportunities aligned with the firm's strategic growth and the chance to get involved with current and future projects.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Production and ownership of period end management accounts, including prepayments and accruals
  • Preparation of monthly budget cost variance analysis
  • Cashflow forecast preparation and monitoring
  • Preparation of intercompany reconciliations, ensuring completeness and consistency
  • Preparation of monthly cost reports for Directors and budget holders
  • Maintaining Balance Sheet controls including performing monthly reconciliations
  • Ensuring secure controls around the UK and Irish payroll including journal posting and reconciliations
  • Production of nominal bills issued to the Verein and reconciliation of inter-office and inter-verein balances
  • Support with statutory compliance i.e., preparation of VAT return, Financial Statements
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual budget and reforecast by providing and preparing necessary reports and templates
  • Maintaining budget holder records drive automated expenditure review and authorisation
  • Timely management of budget holder queries
  • Reviewing supplier and expense payment runs (UK and International)
  • Supporting monthly payroll review and payment processing (UK and International)
  • Assisting the Finance Manager with providing comprehensive responses to our auditors
  • Flexibility to provide support for Finance projects as they arise
  • Providing cover for team members as necessary
  • Other accounting, reporting, analysis and reconciliation work as required

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

 

  • Key skills/capabilities necessary for the role include:
  • Strong accounting background
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in a confident & professional manner
  • Flexible, adaptable and motivated team player with a proactive approach
  • Strong Excel skills including advanced functions
  • Recognised accounting qualification, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent
  • Organised individual, with experience of working to deadlines
