With 1200+ lawyers, 300+ partners, 28 offices and 17 jurisdictions we are looking to expand our Finance  team, with the addition of a Disbursement Cashier.

 

The opportunity for you

 

The Disbursement Cashier performs a shared disbursement management role with another cashier as part of a wider team of six legal cashiers.  They will report directly to the Office Team Leader in Liverpool.  Their primary responsibilities include dealing with the disbursement invoices and payments within firm policy and the Solicitors Accounts Rules.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Oversee and post disbursement invoices to Chrome River, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Generate timely imports to Aderant our PMS platform and perform reconciliations to ensure data integrity.
  • Produce reports on disbursement invoices to facilitate reconciliation at Global Exchange our FX providers.
  • Update Aderant with information on new vendors.
  • Input of Counsel fee notes and reconciliation of fees against rolling statements.
  • Manage the Disbursement Inbox efficiently, addressing any queries in a timely manner.
  • Post direct debits and standing orders from the firm’s office accounts.
  • Conduct daily reconciliations of office bank accounts, including transactions foreign currency accounts.
  • Produce weekly reports on Counsel VAT reconciliation and follow up timely for VAT reclaim fee notes.
  • Process all office disbursement payments through the firm’s online banking systems in accordance with established protocols.
  • Handle non-invoice ad hoc payment requests, ensuring they adhere to firm policies and authorisations.
  • Reconcile statements from disbursement suppliers and liaise with relevant stakeholders as necessary to resolve discrepancies or issues.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements within the disbursement processes to enhance timeliness and accuracy in recording all transactions.
  • Assist in presenting training sessions for the PA's on understanding the disbursement process and resources available to them to access information independently.
  • Provide flexibility to support other office cashiering functions as required, contributing to overall team effectiveness.

 

Knowledge, skills and experience

 

  • Ability to cross train in all roles required of the team to provide support
  • Sound working knowledge of SAR rules
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels in a confident & professional manner
  • Accurate input of data into various software systems.
  • Flexible, adaptable and motivated team player with a proactive approach
  • Basic working knowledge of Excel
  • Familiarity with online banking systems
  • Organised individual, with experience of working to deadlines
  • Previous experience in cashiering role
